Sorry for the lack of posts lately (17 days...yikes!) but the pre-holiday crazies have hit us pretty hard this year. While going on vacation Thanksgiving week was a wonderful break, I probably should have been a little more organized for Christmas before leaving that week. Ah well, next year, right?
Despite running like crazy to buy gifts, wrap said gifts, decorate the house, be semi-social and keep up with demands at work, I am very proud that I have not let the training slip this year. Typically I love to use the holiday excuse to skip my workouts and eat like crap....always rationalizing with "...it's okay, I'll start anew in January!" All the while losing fitness and gaining lbs. Yuck.
This year we've been getting our butts kicked by Coach Liz at Well Fit Tri Chicago. We joined the pre-season session and although I was a little worried about "too much, too soon" it has been the best thing EVER for keeping me in a routine. My fitness (both physically and mentally) is leaps and bounds better than it was last year at this time. Heck, it might be better than where I was at last March! Hooray for that!
As far as nutrition, it's been sort of hit and miss, but definitely more hits than misses. My goal was to be at 134.0 lbs before Christmas, and thanks to a nasty little stomach bug earlier this week, I weighed in at 133.2 lbs two days ago. This is the least I've weighed in at least year, but I still have a ways to go. My hope is to get to sub-130 by the time I start the Ironman program at Well Fit on February 6th. I should be able to do it, and am working on more aggressive calorie counting plans for post holidays! I'll keep you posted.
The plan for the next week of holiday travels is to keep up my workouts (mostly running while on the road) and keep the nutrition under control. I know it won't be perfect, but I don't have to go overboard. More to come next week on goals for January and 2012. I love organizing and setting goals so this is FOR SURE my favorite time of the year! Until then, wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
