We made it.
We are registered. Our wrists are adorned in the official blue bands branding us Ironman athletes. Our names are listed in the official race program. We attended the dinner and received our briefing. Our bikes are racked and all of our gear bags are in the transition rooms.
I should be using this time to calm my mind, reflect on the journey and getting all zen. But I can't. I keep staring over at the Ironman backpack (given to all the registered athletes - the race swag). And the one thought I have is....I just paid $700 for that back pack. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, I will go home with one damn expensive two looped, back satchel.
