Our Favorite Things - December

Hi guys! Hope everyone is having a blessed and happy holiday season. Since it is the season of giving, and also a great time to give thanks for all of our blessings, we thought this would be the perfect time to kick off a new monthly Triathlife feature – Our Favorite Things. Each month we will tell you about a few of the things we’re loving (and thankful for) at the moment. Some triathlon related, some not. In return, we would love if you tell us about some of your favorite things too! I absolutely love learning about new restaurants, gifts and tri finds on my favorite blog sites. So let’s get started with our December Favorite Things!

HER:

1.      Dolfin Christmas swim suit:

Waking up at 4:30am to go to the pool when it’s cold and dark out is not an easy thing to do. But when you have an adorable Christmas swim suit like this one, how can you not have fun while swimming?!! And the great thing is that it fits really well and feels great in the pool! I’ve gotten many compliments on this suit already and plan to wear it as much as possible the rest of this month!!

2.      GarminForerunner 10:

Some awesome person bought this for me for my birthday and I looooove it! This is the new entry level Garmin. No HR monitor. No bells and whistles. Just the basics – time, distance, pace, calories. This is the perfect watch for when the training schedule calls for a super easy run. Or for off season when I want nothing to do with my HR monitor. And bonus, it comes in the cutest colors and is so tiny that I can wear it as a regular watch! You can’t beat the price ($129) and I think everyone should have one.

3.      Olivia’s Beer Cheese:
Source

Olivia is a former colleague of mine. Born and raised in Louisville, she’s been making beer cheese with her father for years. Apparently beer cheese is a big thing in Kentucky and they even have beer cheese contests, which Olivia won with her out-of-this-world beer cheese recipe. She brought some into the office for sampling about a year ago and I was immediately hooked. Olivia is now focusing on growing her little beer cheese business and I am one of her biggest fans! Her retail locations are still fairly limited, but you can find out more on Facebook. And if you’re really dying to get your hands on some, let me know because I might know someone who can help.

HIM:
1).  That kid from the NFL Play 60 campaign. 'Nuff said.

2).  My Clip On Running Lights
There is pretty much no gettin around running in the dark during the winter months. And if they made a Tron running kit I would wear it but (sigh) they don't, so I throw on the reflective vest, light myself up like Christmas morning and hit the pavement. My recommendation..clip white lights in the front and red in the back...it's what drivers are accustomed to look out for. Oh and in writing this I did come across the cycling kit below...how cool is that? Keeping the Tron dream alive. Now all Schmitty needs is one of them fancy bikes.
 3.) My Cycleops Trainer
I kinda dig riding on the trainer. It combines my two true loves....riding my bike and watching TV. Team Schmitty uses the Cycleops Fluid Pro. We keep a few cheap "trainer tires" in the garage. Already blew one out this season.

What are some of your favorite things this holiday season?

Cheers!
