I don't know about you all, but I am VERY happy that it's Monday and a new week is ahead. Last week was a tough one to say the least.
We spent the weekend catching up at home and catching up with friends at a Salt Creek Tri Club social. It was fun to relax and unwind a bit after such a stressful week.
I also spent the weekend trying to re-acquaint myself with long workouts. I am about 95% recovered from my surgery, but these workouts were a reminder that I'm just not all the way there yet.
SATURDAY:
On the trainer. This is all I could take. Had to fight for every minute. I don't know what my deal is, but my heart rate was running SUPER high. No matter what I did I couldn't get into Zone 2, so most of this was done in high Zone 3. So frustrating.
SUNDAY:
Did this about an hour after the long run. Mentally tough to stay focused, but I got it done. Did the best I could today. It will get better.
All in all, not a bad effort for less than five weeks post-surgery. It's those races hanging over my head that continue to give me pause. But this is a new week and I look forward to giving the best I can every day. It's going to be a crazy one -- between work and home activities -- but I'm committed to fueling my body well and continuing to build back my fitness.
What's on your plan for this week?
Happy Training!
